Diva Racing (BMX Bike Racers)
Diva Racing is an all girl BMX race team that was started in 2004 as a way to get girls into the sport of BMX and to bring to light that girls could compete in a sport that is currently dominated by males. The team consist of 6-8 riders ranging in age from 5 years old to 16 years old who come from various parts of the United States. They travel across the nation competing fiercely in their respective classes to win various titles. The girls raise all the money for their expenses through various fundraisers. The teams has some sponsors that help with discounts on product, but girls do not get the sponsorships that the males get.
The first Company that sponsored the team was Six Six One, a company that sells protective gear in Valencia. The owner, Eddie Cole believed in the idea and has been supporting the team since the beginning. The team is always on the look-out for new sponsors and trying to drum up support for the girls.
The 2006 roster includes:
- 16 year old Ilene Vanegas – Ilene has been racing for 8 years and is currently traveling to South America to compete as well as racing in the United States. She has won almost every title including State Champion 7 times, Redline Cup Champion, District Champion 7 times and is was ranked #2 as a 15 year old. Ilene has the skill and the talent to make it to the Olympics.
- 11 year Brandi Milligan – Brandi has been racing for about 2-½ years and is has won the state championship title twice. She is one of the most dedicated of the riders and is always looking out of the younger member of the team. Because Brandi has to race against girls that have been racing a lot longer then she has, she has to train harder to get a national ranking..
- 10 year old Carlie Ferree – Carlie was the 2nd member of the team and has been with the team since the very beginning. Carlie has a big heart and works hard to be one of the top riders in her class. Carlie is dedicated to helping the team and always takes the time to help new riders. Carlie is a talented rider and is looking to make 2006 her best season yet.
- 8 year old Raelyn Abbinanti – Raelyn has been with the team since the beginning and is currently to the #1 8 year old girl.
- 7 year old Halie Milligan – Halie is one tough girl, she broke her collar bone in 2005 and her wrist this year keeping her out of racing for most of the season. Halie is healed and is determined to train harder and get back to her racing.
- 6 year old Madison Martinez – Madison isthe newest member of the team. We have watched Madison since she was a little girl. She would come to the races and watch her big brother race. The first time that we saw Madison race, we knew that she would be a perfect addition to the team. She was smiling the whole time she was on the track. We have watched her grow into one of the best riders in her class. She is currently the #1 6 year old girl.

I’ve seen these girls race first hand and let me tell you just how incredible they are. I don’t think there is a male out there that can touch them. Keep up the amazing work. YOU ROCK!!!!!!
