How Much is Your Underwear Worth?

Aeropostale UnderwearAt a waterpark recently, my family and I reached the top of the biggest water slide to be greeted by a nice looking teenage boy wearing nothing but a pair of crocs and swim trunks.  Oh and underwear.  You couldn’t miss it – the waistband was pulled at least 3 inches above the top of his shorts.  It wasn’t an accident.  He wanted us to see his jockeys.  In fact, in the minute or so we waited for our turn down the slide, he checked at least twice to make sure that band with the big letters was showing.  What did it say?  AEROPOSTALE.  What did it mean?  It means you paid too much for your drawers, dude.

I don’t get it.  Don’t get me wrong, I like nice clothes and I understand paying for quality, but wearing clothing that does nothing but promote someone else’s name and says nothing about you or your passion is beyond me.  How is that a “fashion statement” if it says nothing about you?

I guess this is part two of  How Would You Brand Yourself?  Except that this time it’s not a permanent decoration – we’re talking about clothing, not tattoos.  Seriously, what name brands are you buying and why do you wear them?

I actually do wear my own “brand”, wearing Horsepower & Heels merchadise whenever I can.

When I’m not, its usually just whatever I think looks good and is not outrageously priced. The only time I’m brand conscious, is when its functional… such as running shoes, sunglasses. I’m VERY brand loyal then.

Or… any brand that supports drag racing. I’ll buy just because! ;)

I am brand loyal when it comes to shoes. Having a broken back and occasional issues with my legs and hips from a car accident, nothing beats a good pair of Nikeys. Outside of that, I’m really not attached to any particular company.

First of all, G, it’s “Nikes” not “Nikeys.” :) ) I couldn’t help myself. ;) (Though I have to agree…Nikes are great shoes.)

I think the only thing I’m really loyal about on brand would be bras and jeans. :P Not telling which bras, ‘k, because that’s just TMI. The jeans, however, are Walmart jeans which my Walmart no longer seems to carry. :( ( And that is just downright depressing. Just when I find some jeans that are comfy and fit me really well…wouldn’t you know it. I can’t buy them anymore.

Actually I think you can spell it with a “Y”. Google “Nikey” and you will see several links that refer to the shoes. I think it’s the informal way of spelling the pronunciation “Nigh-Kee”. I don’t call my shoes my “Niiikes”. I call them my Ni-kees”. ;)

“Informal” can still be “incorrect.” ;) LOL

I also found google listings for “Hug Jackman” instead of “Hugh Jackman.” Does that mean I can call him “Hug” in an informal way? :D

You can actually pronounce Nike to rhyme with “bike” or like “nigh-kees.” Most people where we’re from say “nigh kees” but the spelling has never been changed that I know of.

Your spelling was the first time I’d ever seen it spelled that way, which is why I even mentioned it.

But it’s your site, so spell Nikes how you want to.

Well, you can’t expect me to catch EVERY misspelling. ;)

Next time I’ll just go in and change the spelling without telling you. :D

It’s always fun to see a spelling battle between two friends. I’m brand conscious about my toe shoes…I wear Gamba because I have wide feet…lol and I really like some brands like Hollister, Aero, A.E., and others, but I don’t let my undies hang out…thats nasty…lol
