Mechanic girl

imageI hated school my whole life. In grade seven I decided I wanted to be just like my dad a mechanic! So grade 8 I’d hardly go to school, constantly faking sick just so I could goto the workshop with dad. I loved it! I’m an adrenaline junkie and love speed so test drives are awesome!

In grade 9 I desperately wanted an apprenticeship as a mechanic. I started 2 days a week and school the other 3. I loved it. I wanted to be full time!

By this time I should have been a registered apprentice. But the teachers never set it up properly! So I wasn’t getting paid but I didn’t care I wasn’t giving up! Washing parts, doing wheel bearings, services, changing tyres. I loved it.

Grade 10 I left I said stuff this and went full time with dad. I was servicing radiators (fitting, flushing etc) and everything. I even swapped an engine out. All the blokes laughed at me said I had no potential.

My father hated me working with him and constantly said I should be at school! :(

I’m now currently working checkouts at a grocery store for money only for another month or 2 when I go full time mechanics. One guy in town I asked for an apprenticeship said he only wanted a bloke at the end of the year. Personally, I shoulda smashed him right then and there. Just cos I’m pretty don’t mean I don’t get down n dirty ok!

3 years of bieng a mechanic no smart arse has stopped me yet! I’ll get there. So girls go for it! Don’t let any man stop u!!! My fiancé loves it. It’s like chlo’ babe can u fix my car hahahahahahahahah best of luck :)

EITHER WAY DO NOT GIVE UP DOING WHAT U LOVE! YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT!!!

Chloe – glad to see you aren’t giving up on your dreams! Best of luck with your career in mechanics. And don’t be too hard on your dad. School isn’t a bad thing. In fact, if you can find a school that specializes in Auto Mechanics – that would be the fastest way to get into what you love and get the best experience. ;)
