The series airs weekly on FirstRun.tv Network on channel 7. The show first aired on July 16, 2012 and was an immediate hit. Tryneal Addison pitched the social experiment to Disney producer, Gary Kleinman, President & CEO, FirstRun.tv Network when she was 16. Her passion convinced him of the relevance of a teen talk show. Tryneal brought together six ambitious girls ages 16 to 20, with varying cultural backgrounds including African American, Hispanic, Caucasian and Native American. The girls live in cities from Florida, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. They have never met in person, but Tryneal created the social experiment giving Voice to girls of diverse locations, social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds that influence their opinions. They meet weekly to explore contemporary subjects. Each Voices their opinion, and there is no right or wrong, only opinion. The show concept was developed as an extension of exploring cultural and geographical influences through social networking activities.
Each half-hour episode of “What Girls Think” covers two timely topics, one serious and one fun. Tryneal Addison, 17, a high school student in St. Paul, MN, serves as Host and Co-Producer. Panelist regulars include Abbie Emmons, 17, a high school student in Columbus, OH; Tweety Elitou, 18, an online fashionista and blogger in Philadelphia, PA; and college students Cassidy Smith, 18, in Houston, TX; Sasha Marina, 19, in Miami, FL; and Lauren Furs, 20, in Los Angeles.
