If you are not inspired by this story, you may be brain dead.
Seriously.
There are so many lessons in the life of Diana Nyad. At the age of 28, she made her first attempt to swim across the Florida Straits and was blown off course. She tried 4 more times and didn’t make it.
Her goal seemed impossible.
And just yesterday, at the age of 64, she achieved her dream and set world records. Diana was the first person to swim the treacherous 110 miles from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. And she did it in just under 53 hours.
If that’s not inspirational enough, she still had enough energy to face the camera and give us these words of wisdom: “If you say to yourself ‘find a way’, you will make it through.”
She’s living proof of that.
Congratulations, Diana. We are in awe of your accomplishment. Thank you for being such a powerful role model to us all and for never giving up!

Yes – that part is so important. It would have been so easy to quit after four failed attempts. That, to me, is the biggest part of why this story is so fascinating.

So glad you featured this story. I think even more impressive is that she tried 4 times, failed, and then kept trying until she met her goal. Too often we give up early on and then wonder why we can’t do things like someone else. Well, maybe it’s because they met difficulties too – but didn’t give up!
