In case you missed it, Archer Daniels Midland has chosen Patricia Woertz as president and chief executive officer of its agricultural processing company. She will be the eighth CEO in ADM’s 104-year history. Woertz, 53, was previously a long-time senior executive for Chevron Corp.
Woertz began her career as a certified public accountant with Ernst & Young, and then became a refining and marketing official with Gulf Oil Corp. before it merged with Chevron. At ADM she succeeds Allen Andreas, who remains chairman of the company’s board of directors. According to The Wall Street Journal, the appointment of Woertz makes ADM the largest publicly traded U.S. firm overseen by a woman.
ADM has annual sales of more than $35 billion from production of
soybean oil, meal, ethanol and an array of food and feed ingredients.
