Girls Can’t WHAT? Launches New Web Site for Girls of All Ages

Girls Can’t WHAT? has announced the opening of the Girls Can’t WHAT? Community web site. Focused on inspiring girls to follow their dreams, the site puts a special emphasis on non-traditional roles in areas typically dominated by males such as skateboarding, drumming, martial arts and a myriad of other pursuits. Girls Can’t WHAT? features biographies of women, including musicians, pioneers, athletes, record breakers and world leaders among others. Other highlights include news and blog entries, book and music reviews, interviews, quotes and a community posting board.

Girls Can’t WHAT? was founded by Gretchen Cawthon in 2005. Cawthon grew up hearing phrases like “girls can’t drum” or “girls can’t play ball.” Her reply back was always a sassy sounding “Girls Can’t WHAT?” The catch phrase stuck with her and is now the title of the site and the brand name for the gifts and t-shirts.Girls Can’t WHAT? officially hit the Internet in late 2005 and has already generated a steady following and membership from girls around the world.

“I so enjoy this site. I love the colors and the stories about amazing women like us! Excellent work.” says Amy from Nebraska.

Community members participate by posting in the Girl Talk Forums, commenting on the various sections, and also have access to the site’s archives. A bi-monthly Girls Can’t WHAT? Newsletter is also available for members opting to receive it. Membership is free and open to girls of all ages.
The site can be found at girlscantwhat.com.
