If you are reading this message, then this site has officially switched gears. I am in the process of rolling out updates to Girls Can’t WHAT? that will kick things up a notch. Or two…or three… My goal for this site has always been to form a community for women, so I will take every opportunity I have to move towards that goal. The changes I am implementing will foster a more open and diverse community. It will also allow visitors to post comments without registering, which will encourage more discussion from visitors. It will allow for a more open environment where people can participate as little or as much as they want.
A few months back we tried guest blogging and it seemed to spark interest from several members. However, the software I used was buggy and had security problems that made it difficult to maintain. After much research and testing, I have decided to switch software packages and to eliminate those issues. The new software is much more user-friendly than before and uses a very simple web interface. I encourage you to give it a try. If you need help getting started, please let me know. Guest blogs will be moderated for the first 30 days.
The interviews with women around the world are still immensely popular here on Girls Can’t WHAT? and this new blog-type format will open up the door for more creative interviews. Guest bloggers can volunteer to be interviewed and a “perpetual” interview can be held by allowing visitors to post questions and having the blogger providing the answers. I will gradually be moving away from the Girl Talk forums as the new blog format will now allow guest bloggers to post articles and discussion topics which will eventually replace the forum environment. The forums are still available here: Girl Talk
Girls Can’t WHAT? is now in syndication as well. For the geeks among us, you know what to do. For everyone else, syndication means that you can subscribe to topics from the Girls Can’t WHAT? site and receive notifications when content has been updated or commented on. I plan to blog more on this topic in the future because it is a valuable time-saver.
So for now, bear with me as I finish up the transition. All of the previous content from the old site is still available. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please use the search box. I am fixing some broken links and images and adding a few other things back in so it may be a bit “messy” for a few more days as I iron things out. The template and color scheme are still being tweaked as well so you will see some slight changes in “the look” as I make adjustments. Overall, I think you will be pleased at how this turns out. This is a continually growing community and I must do what it takes to maintain that status. Thank you for your patience.
