Thank you for helping Gabriela from Peru grow her business

Each month, Girls Can’t WHAT? gives 20% of its profits to support women-owned businesses through KIVA loans.

Thanks to all who purchased gifts items from Girls Can’t WHAT? in June 2010. With the funds, we were able to help two women entrepreneurs move their business ideas forward. Gabriela is a hard worker and no stranger to managing her finances to improve her business. With this kind of track record, Girls Can’t WHAT? is proud to support Gabriela in her efforts to grow her business. Here is her story:

GabrielaGabriela, 23 years old, is a very happy and hard-working young person who lives alone in her own house. What she most desires is to improve her standard of living. The long work days she puts in at the transportation enterprise where she works generate the income she needs to cover her expenses.

Parallel to this activity Gabriela also sells beauty products, an activity that has been very profitable for her in the last few months. It’s been a year since she started to sell cosmetics and what she likes most about it is the liberty she has to work, since her bosses have confidence in her decisions. Moreover, she finds that the most difficult thing is having to remain in the office all day. With the passage of time, she wants to continue working very hard, since she is still very young and has much road to cover.

This is Gabriela’s 2nd loan with MFP and she is very determined to make her payments on time, given that she hopes to obtain more loans in the future. In her communal group, she is very active and demonstrates much solidarity with her fellow members. With the 1,000 new sols she solicits, she will buy more beauty products and be able to offer more to her clients.

If you’d like to help other women around the world support themselves, their families and improve their communities, join us on KIVA and change the world one loan at a time.
