Many of you know that I maintain this site and the Girls Can’t WHAT? shop in my “spare time”. My day job is a freelance web developer and I own my own company called Thyme For Design. Recently I’ve had the pleasure of working on a few really inspiring sites that I’d like to share with you.
Extra kudos to my graphic designer, Trina, for making them beautiful (I’m just the geek behind the screen compiling code).
AfroPuffs and PonyTails
This site is a great resource for African American girls. There are lots of fantastic topics and discussions on a variety of topics. You’ll find tons of information from books, clubs, camps and mentoring programs.
In particular, I like how AfroPuffs and Ponytails celebrates the achievements of young ladies in all areas of life. The site is a very positive source of encouragement for everyone.
Owner Kim Thomas is well-informed and very active in keeping the site up to date.

Inspire USA Foundation
The Inspire USA Foundation works primarily with teens and young adults to help them live happier lives. They take on tough issues like suicide and mental health and work with teams to reach out to people in need.
One of their biggest projects, the ReachOut.com site is a popular place for teens. Last month they reached over 60,000 young people.
Girlz Voices
GirlzVoices is also geared to the younger crowd (see a theme here?) They feature an advice column and radio podcast where you can ask questions and get solid, trustworthy answers.
The site is still pretty new, but it’s packed full of features and great content. Check it out and join their community or ask a question and get some answers!
See why I love my day job? I get to help people who help other people make a difference in the world. :)
