A Lesson in Self-Confidence from Susan Boyle

Check out this video of Susan Boyle from “Britain’s Got Talent”.  She was practically laughed off the stage before she even sang the first note.  But by the end of her song, she had a standing ovation and the overwhelming approval from the judges.  This is absolutely amazing:

That is so true – they probably wouldn’t be making a big deal about her appearance if she were a guy or the fact that she is single and “never been kissed” at the age of 47. I saw another interview with her somewhere on youtube where she talks about being made fun of as a child. Her story is very inspirational.

And there is nothing wrong with never marrying. If it were a guy, I doubt anyone would care if he had ever been married or not. When it comes to women and marriage, people think something must be wrong with her if she isn’t married and that simply isn’t true.

There is just something magical in the way she says “I’m going to make that audience rock”. She just knew she was going to do just that. And for her to go out there, be laughed at by a large audience on public television and still retain that level of confidence in herself and her ability is just astounding.

  • Such an inspiring video! I have to say that, as inspiring as it is, I don’t think the world would be making such a big deal of her appearance if she were a man. I don’t want to knock her amazingly inspiring story, but I think it really shows us how important it is for women to look a certain way. I bet if this were a guy it wouldn’t be nearly as impressive because it’s okay for guys to be unattractive.

That being said, she’s awesome and I really give her a LOT of credit for doing what she’s done. Way to go SB!

  • This woman just blew me away. If she can do it, why can’t the rest of us? It doesn’t have to be signing–it can be anything nobody thought you could do but you’ve always wanted. Whether it’s a job as a firefighter, astronaut or even just as a teacher. We should all go for it!

  • We have been watching that video over and over the past few days. It is incredible. What an inspiration and a check up for us all.
