And Why Not?

I am a fourteen year old girl named Selina, with a passion for writing. I am from Canada (not specified) and I am writing a book inspired by Sarah Renee, who was featured on this site a while back about her book, “The Tiger Princess.” I have spent over a year writing and editing, and I am almost finished my book. But beforehand everyone would tell me;

“You can’t write a book, you have no chance. And even if you did, it’s not like you’ll ever get it published.”

Crushed, I set out to prove them wrong. Many hours I would spend at my laptop, writing my ideas and thoughts down. Soon I had a plot, a storyline, and eventually I started to write the chapters down. I still am in the process of writing the first copy, but people still tell me I don’t have a chance at publishing. I smile at them, shake my head, and tell them about my idol, Sarah Renee.

Not convinced, they STILL try to tell me about the many turned down authors in the world. I believe in myself, and my mom has always been by my side, despite her doubts. I have never stuck to a story as long as I have with The Spiranigh, but I hope I will eventually find someone who will make my dreams come true.

Never give up on your passion, dreams, or goals. Those are the things that can inspire you to do ANYTHING you set your mind to. If you are dedicated to it and care about it enough, you can finish, and exceed your goal. So if someone says you can’t do your dream, just say, “And why not?” and prove them wrong.
