BarlowGirl Album Release

BarlowGirl debuted their self-titled album to rave reviews and landing the title of the best selling new artist of 2004. The three sisters Rebecca, Alyssa and Lauren Barlow all sing and play their own instruments on their albums. Their music is aimed at young girls, encouraging them in the areas of trust, relationships and purity.

Admittedly, I am late-comer to the BarlowGirl bandwagon. I thought their music was more for the pre-teen/teenage crowd so I never gave them much thought (except I did think it was pretty cool that Lauren played drums). Then one day, on a whim, I picked up their first album. I haven’t stopped playing it. Wow – the power that comes out of my CD player is just awesome. The sisters have such tight harmonies and the band sound just rocks!

First thing this morning, my 6 year old daughter reminded me that the BarlowGirls’ new album was coming out (this came from the mouth of the child who can’t remember if she brushed her teeth or not 30 seconds after exiting the bathroom so how she remembered that today was the day of the album release is beyond comprehension). I rushed out to my local music store to pick up round two of the BarlowGirls called “Another Journal Entry”. I was in such a hurry that I ended up getting to the store early and had to wait patiently outside until they opened. I justified the purchase by saying it was “for my girls” but I had the CD in my player before I ever left the parking lot of the music store.

My girls have yet to hear the new album but I know they will love it. They were beyond excited about it when they saw the CD case on the counter in the kitchen. I am not at all disappointed by their sophomore release. Their current favorite BarlowGirl Song is “Average Girl” which they sing around the house at the top of their lungs. I don’t have a “favorite” song, but I am a little partial to “Grey” off the new album. Thank you Becca, Lauren and Alyssa Barlow for another great set of tunes!
