Beating the boys

iron-manHi, I’m Sydney, and I’m 13 years old. I race BMX and before I started, these two boys whom I would hang out with said that because I was a girl I couldn’t do it.

I wanted to prove them wrong, so I told my dad that I wanted to start racing. He took to whatch a race one day at my local bmx track and once I saw it I wanted to start right away!

Finally, I got a bike and I never turned back. Now when I go to a race everyone knows me at my home track. I started on a park bike and I came a long way. I’m now on race bike and going to nationals and races all over the place.

Whenever I look at the moto board to see what race I’m in, I expect to be racing boys. And I like it when you have to race the boys, because I beat them. It’s a great feeling when I beat the boys and the announcer has jokes to say that the boys got beat by a girl. And the best part is is having all of the pictures when I’m in front of the boys.

I proved everybody wrong who said I couldn’t race because I was a girl. I am also the only girl on my team for the 2013 season. It’s not too bad being the only girl.
