Briana Dreams of Sharing Music

Hey. I’m Briana. (friend of Jamie who is also on this site) I’m 17 and I’m a singer/songwriter. I play guitar, piano, bass, saxophone, and I’m learning drums as of Christmas. I have a passion for music and expression. If you somehow effect my life, you effect my music. I once wrote a song in a coffee shop while listening to another musician that inspired. I don’t even know his name or what he looks like because he had a hat on. That’s how little you have to know me to be apart of the music I share with people.

I’ve played a couple bands before. I played bass in an all girl teen rock band and we were pretty awesome if I do say so myself. Unfortunately we are no longer together.

I was with another band that was all guys except me. I really felt degraded there. They never took me seriously, and they couldn’t respect me enough to even listen to any my suggestions or thoughts. I often felt I couldn’t say anything, because everything I said was wrong. I used “girl logic”. This was the first time I really had experienced being disrespected just because I was a girl. I didn’t like it one bit.

After leaving that band I met a producer that made iphone/ itouch apps out of a couple of my songs. My two songs “Why” and “Rainy Days” are featured on itunes. Soon we will hopefully be recording my full album and going on tour. As for right now, I’m finding musicians (preferably girls) to be in my band. I really love to share my music and I believe it is relate able.

Many people ask me what kind of music I play and who my influences are. I’ve always had a hard time with this question because everything influences me. I listen to all kinds of music therefore I write all kinds of music. Some of my favorite artist are The Beatles, Bon Jovi, George Michael, Nirvana, Alanis Morisette, Jewel, Carrie Underwood, No Doubt, ‘Til Tuesday, and Paramore. That is a very small percentage of what influences me.

My dream is to be able to share my music with the world, and travel. I also like to act and dance, so if ever get the chance I would definitely like to be in movies and on broadway. A specific dream that would just about fulfill my life is to record and perform a song with Jon Bon Jovi, preferably one that we could sit down and write together; but I’m going to start by taking small steps.
