While on vacation last month, I read a fascinating article in The New Yorker about a coach who took a team of young girls with no basketball skills all the way to a championship. And nearly won. In fact, they would have won had they continued with their hard-core strategy, but a sour-puss referee made them change their full-court press tactics.
The article is a long read (about 8 pages) and the basketball team’s story is intermingled with other insights. Be sure to read all the way to the end, though, I promise you won’t regret it. The article, How David Beats Goliath, is a fascinating look at how thinking outside the traditional methods and routines can have a huge impact on results.
Let me know what you think. It sure caused me to stop and analyze the strategies I’m using to reach my goals. Wow.
