Since I was in the 7th grade I wanted to play football but was always scared to try for my school’s team just because I’m a girl. Flash forward 5 years, it’s the end of my junior year of high school and I told myself I am not graduating without doing the one thing I always wanted to do. So I went out for the football team, and despite the running, the exhaustion, constantly being told by the guys to quit, and just all the things that physically a female should not have to go through, I still stuck it out.
Everyday I would tell myself, no matter what happens, no matter how much I have to run, no matter how hard I get hit, I’m not going to quit. I ended up making the varsity team and staying on it throughout the entire season. People outside the team respected me for being on the team and I am so glad I didn’t quit.

Ice’es, I hope you move on into semi-pro women’s tackle football. There are women all over the country who are playing tackle football, and there might be a team near you. The IWFL and the NWFA are the two biggest leagues. You can find links and more information here:

Also, search “women’s tackle football” on YouTube to see women in action. I’m not in the position to play, but I buy tickets to every game I can get to.
