I walked into the weight room in early January. I started walking to the free weights and the football coach stopped me and said, “Sorry, only the football team is allowed in here today” I looked at him and walked in. He looked at me like he has just seen a ghost. He finally said, “Excuse me what are you here for” I said, “I’m trying out for the football team.”
He laughed in my face.
Today is now early April and I quite often beat boys in weights, sprints, suicides, agility drills, and one time we wrestled and I pinned a few boys.
I have proven myself to me, the team, and the coaches that I can take a hit, I SPRAINED my neck from one hit. Nobody thought I’d get up that quick. NOBODY gets up that quick from Tony’s hits! I now have most of the team’s respect. I’d like to encourage ALL girls to start something like this! It has been an amazing experience and I’m not stopping any time soon!
Turns out I actually got a boyfriend from this. He plays safety and I play nose guard =)

OOOOOHHHHHH nosegaurd, defense my fave position, When I started playing football the same thing happened 2 me the coaches laughed in my face =(… Then they saw i was good enough for b team! i got a boyfriend out of it also!!!!

Kudos to you for having the guts to go for it. That’s awesome to hear that you proved yourself. I like how you said you proved it to yourself first. That’s what matters. Other people’s opinions just don’t count. Keep us posted on next year’s season. :)>-
