Every day that I get out of bed I face a man’s world. It first occurred to me when I became the first little guy wrestling coach when I was in high school. Now I’m the one of only a few female firefighters on my local fire department.
To top it off I work in man’s world too! I work in a hardware store. I really do recieve a lot of weird looks when I’m in my fire fighting gear on a fire as men walk by. All I can do is laugh and walk away knowing that I’ve probably got more guts than they would ever dream of having!

I definitely understand where your coming from Kayla. I am the only woman firefighter in my department, and you know what it feels great. Ecspecially if you show them up. I think the funniest part is when you just get out of a house burn to replenish yourself, and you take off your coat and helmet. The look from the other companies is priceless. =]

Thanks for sharing that Kayla! It helps to see that there are women like you out there that are not afraid to do what they love, even if it means you have to break into a “man’s world” to do it. Keep your head up! :)>-
