Madi Proved She Could Play Football

Ever since I was little, I have always been playing sports. The only difference with me was that I didn’t like the regular sports girls did. I always liked what the boys played. Instead of playing softball, I always played baseball. Instead of being a cheerleader, I played football.

It took a long time to talk my mom into playing football, because she thought I would get hurt. When she finally signed me up, I ended up being the best player on the team. I was faster, stronger and all around more athletic. Before our football games, boys on the other team would be joking around about having to take it easy on me because I’m a girl. When the game started, I would target the kids that were saying that and take them out.

After that they would never tease me again.  I was a quaterback on the offense and a safety on the defense. Before I was on the team, I never knew how far and fast I could throw the football. When I was told by my coach that I could thow the ball 49 yards at about 47 miles per hour, I was in shock. My goal was to throw as far as most high school or even college quarterbacks, and now I’m only a few yards short of them.

Just from practicing and getting better, I can now already have a shot on the JV team in high school and I’m only in 7th grade. I proved to myself and my family that I could do it.
