March Sales Support Honduran Woman’s Business

Each month, Girls Can’t WHAT? gives 20% of its profits to support women-owned businesses through KIVA loans.  Special thanks go out to all who purchased Girls Can’t WHAT? gear in March.  We were able to help a Honduran woman get a loan through KIVA to enhance her business.  Read her story below:

Carmen Lorena Roque Morazan has spent three years making and selling corn tortillas from her house. Her daughter helps her to grind the corn and make the tortillas. Carmen grinds 16 measurements of corn every day which are distributed to small restaurants and local grocery stores in the municipality of Jacaleapa.

Carmen lives with her partener, who works as an administrator of a cattle farm in the department of Intibuca. He travels from Intibuca every one to two weeks to visit the family and be looked after by Carmen. At the moment Carmen has two children who depend on her and her partner.

Carmen will use this loan to purchase 12 sacks of corn, 20 loads of firewood and 30 bags of lime.

If you’d like to help other women around the world support themselves and improve their communities, join us on KIVA and change the world one loan at a time.
