Never One of the Boys

exceteraWhen I initially went straight into the music scene as a female in metal I knew I was in for a long road ahead. Growing up in a very sexist and sheltered lifestyle in a small town I realized that as a woman I was going to have to scratch and claw extra hard just to play music and do the things I loved to do.

Growing up I was not allowed to play in bands because I was a girl, I would get kicked out many times because I would not date my band mates, and not to mention the harassment and hazing I got just simply because I was a woman. All this has done in the end is fueled me to become not one of the boys but a strong proud individual.

I will never be one of the boys and I never want to be, I only want to be myself and play music being happy with myself for the rest of my life. Gender shouldn’t matter it should be individuality and talent that life is based off of, not superficiality and labels.

My entire life I have been told I couldn’t and I have proven everyone wrong. I am my own person and I have gotten far in my life through this motivation, and the want and will to help other females like me, being a strong example for them.

To this day I get harassed and treated differently because I’m a woman, but it has inspired me to only be louder, stronger, more talented, and motivated to change the world and make things equal.

Excetera – Love your spot and your video is fantastic. Your comment “I would get kicked out many times because I would not date my band mates” kind of stuck out at me. I think it’s great that you take your music so seriously and you stand your ground. I like your style and hope to see more of you soon.
