Sostorics, Colleen (Hockey Player)

Colleen Sostorics (born December 17, 1979 in Kennedy, Saskatchewan) is a women’s ice hockey player.

Nicknames “Stubs”, Sostorics played on boy’s teams until age 17. As a result of that, coupled with her 5-foot 3 inch, 175 pound frame, she is considered one of the rougher players on the Canadian national team. She was named captain of Canada’s Under 21 team in 2000. Her work ethic earned her a place on the National team the following year. She has won gold at both the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2004 World Championships.

After her 2002 gold medal win, her home town of Kennedy renamed the road into town after her.

She plays defense for the Canadian women’s team in Turin though she normally plays for the Calgary X-treme of the Western Women’s Hockey League.
