Voicing our concerns in this world is one thing, but voicing them as a group is a far more powerful effort. If you are with me in this revolution, here is an interesting challenge for us.
The Bayer company continues to air an advertisement for Midol in which they refer to menstruation as a curse. Yes, periods can suck sometimes, but calling it a curse and teaching young women to be dissatisfied with their bodies just because it’s “that time of the month” is not necessary. Surely their advertising agency can come up with a better campaign than that. I could. Hire me.
Anyway – if you’d like to be part of the revolution that knocks this ad off the air, here is the phone number for the consumer relations department at Bayer: 1-800-331-4536.
This info came from one of my networks call Honoring Women, and I’m quoting Carrie’s plea for help:
“The woman I spoke to told me that e-mails and letters really don’t make that much impact, and that calling this number is the best route for voicing complaints. I know a lot of women have complained about the ad, but apparently all the e-mails and letters just don’t have an impact. So for those of you offended by an ad geared towards young girls teaching them to loathe their bodies and their periods, please call this number! There are about 20 people there in that division and I told her be prepared for a bombardment of calls! It’s time Bayer got the hint. Please remember to leave at least your last name and zip code, or they don’t record the call and it is a waste of your time.”
Please take a moment to revolutionize our world for future generations. :)

Yeah I’m guessing there were no women involved in the development of that commercial. [-(

Wow, seriously? That “curse” is what allows us to bear future generations…
