Wags 4 Hope

Submitted By: Annie Blumenfeld | Age: 18

I am 18 years old and started an animal welfare non-profit when I was in 8th grade after my rescue dog, Teddy, suffered from a potentially fatal disease in a high-kill shelter. He had to be in a crate for more than a month stabilized with arsenic injections. Inspired by his story, I wanted to raise funds for animals like Teddy. I fundraise by selling my custom animal portraits and giving all of the proceeds directly to shelters and rescues. I created a bill with my state representative to provide heartworm education on the Connecticut Dog License for over a year. Connecticut is now the first state to have any sort of pet responsibility message besides the requirements with a heartworm awareness message. Please visit my website www.wags4hope.org and facebook page www.facebook.com/wags4hope to learn more about my story and cause! :)

Warm regards,
Annie Blumenfeld
