I am reading a fascinating new book called “Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking” by Malcolm Gladwell. It’s mainly about intuition and the first few thoughts that go through your head in various situations. What I find interesting is that in some situations your gut-reaction is your best bet, but in others you are better off going with logic and fact. The trick is learning to discern the difference and deciding when your intuition is leading you to the right answer. There is a really cool riddle in the book that I will admit had me stumped at first, but then I figured it out. I thought I’d post it here and I will even offer a free Girls Can’t WHAT? shirt to the first person to solve it. I won’t tell you whether you should use intuition or logic. Here it is:
A man and his son are in a serious car accident. The father is killed, and the son is rushed to the emergency room. Upon arrival, the attending doctor looks at the child and gasps, “This child is my son!” Who is the doctor?
The answer may not be as easy as you think, or is it? Please post your answer as a comment. I will reply when the correct answer is posted.

Ding Ding Ding….We have a winner! “The mother” is the correct answer. =D> Now that you know, it seems like it is the logical response, but many people get stumped on a question like this because they associate “doctor” as being a male figure. :-O It’s true. I am an intuitive thinker and my first reaction was to think of a male figure as the doctor. However, after reading it the second time and applying logic, I concluded that “mother” was the right answer. It just proves that intuition can be wrong at times. It also shows that society still associates a gender with a profession.
