Who Says You Can’t Do It?

Female Firefighter

As a high school senior, I know what I want to do and that’s be a firefighter. My father is somewhat okay with the idea, but just warns me to not get over my head, which I don’t, but its my mother that I’m worried about. She has told me “you’re not getting involved with the fire department” and I felt hurt and betrayed. She was dismissing my dream but I got over it and I keep my head up high.

When I graduate from high school in 2017, I will be heading off to college and begin training to be a firefighter. If I can get an application, I will fill it out and let my colors fly. I don’t need encouragement from anyone. This is what I want to do and I will NOT let anyone take that away from me. No one ever said it would be easy and as a firefighter, nothing is ever easy and I know that.

There is no area in the work force that women can’t fulfill. We are just as strong and tough as the males, and of course they don’t want to admit that. To any other girls that want to become firefighters, GO FOR IT!

Who says you’re not the best? Who says you can’t do what a man can? You choose your future, not your parents or anyone. You choose who you want to be and prepare for it as early as possible.

There is nothing that can’t be accomplished if you work hard. I can’t wait for my future to begin.
