Who’s laughing now?

Like any other mom, my mom signed me up for rec soccer when I was four. My brother never wanted to and he was two years older than me so he was already playing baseball.

When I saw him in tee-ball I asked my mom if I could try it. She said yes, and I was thrilled. So I started in tee ball and went on and now I am in my sixth and last year of little league.

I have been asked COUNTLESS times, “why do you play baseball?” and I end up saying this same thing every time. I get the, “GO PLAY SOFTBALL WHERE YOU BELONG!” but I never listened I just make some clever remark like ” I don’t know, how about YOU go?” and I have to say, I have the biggest fan club in all of the league all of the parents love me (even if their kids don’t).

Every time I hear that it makes me a little bit stronger, so the boys don’t realize that they are giving me more confidence in myself. I would just like to dedicate this to all girls who are in my position so girls,

NEVER GIVE UP, YOU ARE AMAZING AND BOYS ARE JEALOUS THAT THEY ARENT YOU! BASEBALL MAKES YOU TOUGHER, STRONGER AND WHO CARES WHAT PEOPLE THINK! BASEBALL MADE ME A STRONGER PERSON.

Merrie – I share your feelings. I grew up playing little league baseball because softball wasn’t even an option for younger girls.

To this day I would still prefer to play baseball over softball. Congrats to you for doing what you love and it’s great to hear that you have supportive fans – especially from adults (your peers will eventually catch on)!
