Why we women still have such a long way to go…

WARNING:  Reading this post may make you extremely angry.  This is not some cutesy teaser.  I am dead serious.  The excerpts I will be quoting will most likely make you want to break things.  I went back on forth on whether or not to publish these, but I think it’s important to point out current examples of sexism so we can see just how far we still need to go to reach equality and acceptance as females.

For marketing purposes, I have a Google search set up that looks for my business name on web sites around the world.  This past week, “Girls Can’t WHAT” turned up in some very unexpected places and what I read on those pages was downright shocking.  It really drives home the realization that we’re still battling for equality and respect in 2011.  (It’s also a little weird that the web pages mentioned below used my Girls Can’t WHAT? phrase as the page title or in one instance stole my mechanic design and pasted it into their comment).

Due to the graphic nature of some of these posts and knowing that this site attracts an audience that includes younger ladies, I’m only going to post some (edited) excerpts from these pages and I will not be linking out to them. They need not be promoted in any way (and if you really want to find them, search for any text string in the excerpt and you’ll get there).

Example #1 – from a blog

“Send a group of Women out in the deserted wilderness and they will die, always. This? is because Women can’t hunt, fight off predators, navigate and are not tough enough to handle the harsh environment.

Women relied on Men for protection and food. Men relied on Women for having babies(sex), raising offspring and scavenging for fruit.

Women were scavengers, Men were hunters. The Women would pick fruits, such as berries, most of the day, and had to identify which ones were poisonous.

So without Women, Men would accidentally eat poisonous fruits most of the time. Women see colors differently than Men. Women can see much more different shades of red-pink than Men. This is because Women had to identify which berries were poisonous and which were not. This is why Women love the color pink.

Men can see much more? different shades of blue than Women. This is because Men had to determine the weather by looking up at the sky, and also for looking for clean, fresh water to drink.

That, Women, is why most Men like the color blue. Blue has a calming effect on Men when they look at it. Because it meant clear skies or clean water.

Get it, Women? Now you had a history lesson.?

Both genders are good for different things. Strength? Women won’t stand a chance.

-Why are Women always trying to humiliate Men lol.

Anyway, when people are young boys are not yet strong, but by the age of 12 and over,? especially in puberty, they are much stronger.

An Adult man can throw a Women across the room really.

-Most likely because many people consider women to be weaker physically than a man, and it’s always some sort of big deal when a man loses to a woman in anything, which I? don’t understand as gender doesn’t prove anything. However, even if a girl completely kills a boy in one thing, it evens out as they get older.

-Look, you seem like a nice girl, and I really don’t want to offend you. But the truth is, Males are naturally stronger than females, by a lot.

For example. I’m 17 and I could make a girl fly across the room if I hit her as hard as I could, even a big girl. Of course, I’m never going? to do that, but you get what I mean.

If Women were just as strong then they would not be getting raped so often by Men. Women who get raped are easily overpowered by the Man and are held down.

-In general, Women are a lot weaker, and slow when? it comes to running since they lack power. Again, this is all because of human evolution. I’ve already explained it all.

Men have evolved for fighting and hunting. Men needed to be fast, strong and intelligent. Men had to navigate their way around while hunting and not get lost. Men have better navigational skills, this is why Women get lost more often and have trouble using maps. That’s? how it is, all you ladies out there have to accept it.”

Example #2 – from a conversation on craigslist

I hear ya bro. These girls are dumb as a rock when it comes to cars. I get this smart### ##### that tells me her father was a mechanic and she knows all about cars. I told her she needs an alternator. When she comes back to pick up her car I told her she needed a starter too. She starts screaming demanding her old parts back. Of course I never replaced any parts, I just sprayed the degreaser and wiped them down so they looked new. So I grab a couple of old parts from the back and add another $100 to her bill. I tell her that’s the money I get from recycling your old parts that was deducted from your bill. Then the ##### calms down when she realizes I was trying to save her money. Dumb #####. I laugh at the ones that think they know better. She paid over $500 and all her car needed was a new fuse and a circuit breaker that cost under $10 and 15 minutes worth of work.

Example #3 from a conversation on craigslist

I hate women from years of them screwing me over. Now it’s my turn to get back what’s been taken from me all of these years. I’m a mechanic and I take advantage of these dumb ##### whenever I get a chance. When they come to me for minor problems I turn it into a major costly repair. I sell them parts they don’t need and overcharge them on top of it. The best part of it is they all love me for being so honest with them and how I’m such a nice guy. Well this “nice guy” is making up for all the ##### that took advantage of me in the past. I’m through with these ##### and now it’s my turn to use them for my meal ticket.

Example #4 – same conversation on craigslist

Bwahahahahaha!!!! You morons make me laugh. Like I said, you don’t have to use my service. Remember, you came to me for help like this old woman the other day. She pulls into the station complaining about a noise coming from one of her wheels. We put the car up on the lift and see that’s it’s only a plastic bag that got wrapped around her axle. I cut it away and get the wire hanger we keep around for such occasions and wrap that around her wheel. I get her from the office and show her the hanger wrapped around the wheel. I explain that the hanger has damaged her brakes and her wheel bearings and that both brakes need to be replaced along with the wheel bearing. She was ready to go ahead with the work until I told her the price of $1,500. She wanted to talk to her son first before she approved the work. I told her she couldn’t leave the car and I’ll have it towed to her house for $200. When she couldn’t get in touch with her son, she approved the work. I even drove her home in my Escalade and told her I’ll call her when the car is ready and I’ll either pick her up or have one of my mexican workers bring it to her house.

Of course when I called her, I told her there was additional damage from the hanger and it would cost an additional $700 to replace a damaged muffler and tailpipe. She thought I was such a nice honest person that she said to go ahead and fix whatever needs to be done. I left it at that and will make more money off of her now that I have a new customer. Little old ladies are some of the easiest to get additional work from. They are so gullible. Of course all we did was unwrap the hanger from the wheel, clean up the parts so they looked new, and showed her some old broken bearings from another car and said they were hers.

So yeah.  We still have a lot of educating to do out there. Take a deep breath, remember not everyone is like that and carry on the fight.  Girls Can’t WHAT?
