Win a Football Prize Pack from Girls Can’t WHAT?

contest-promo4It’s football season and since girls football is such a hot topic on this site as well as one of the best-selling Girls Can’t WHAT? designs, I’m going to kick-off a fun contest to win a Football Prize Pack!

What You’ll Win

A football prize pack consisting of a Girls Can’t WHAT? T-shirt, Canvas Tote Bag and Round Magnet with your choice of Girls Can’t WHAT? character printed on it.  You can pick the same design for all three items or mix and match with any other Girls Can’t WHAT? character from the shop.

How to Enter

In the comment section below, fill out your name (nicknames are fine), a valid email address (will not be shared) and answer the following question:

What do you think is the biggest challenge girls face when playing football?

The Rules

1. One comment per person.  They are moderated for first-time visitors and will appear once they have been approved.  (Duplicates will be ignored and rule-breakers will be beaten with an ugly stick.)

2. Bonus entries for posting a link to this contest on Twitter, Facebook or any other social network.  In your comment, please list each place you posted it and I’ll grant you one extra entry per site listed.  (Just call me the prize fairy…but don’t do it publicly).

3. The winner will be drawn randomly by a computer program. (Otherwise I would totally pick my friends so I have to make it fair.)

4.  Contest ends Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 at 11pm Central Time.  The winner will be announced on October 8th and also mentioned in the Girls Can’t WHAT? newsletter.  (No exceptions so don’t even try to sneak one past me!)

5. Your email address will not be shared or added to any mailing lists.  It will only be used to notify the participants of the outcome of this contest. (If I violate this rule you can beat ME with an ugly stick.)

  • I think the biggest challenge facing women/girls who want to play tackle ball is two-fold. A win is often attributed to the other team “going easy” on “the girl.” A loss is too often attributed to the idea that a boy would have played better or somehow better served the team.

I play womne’s tackle football in the WFA. Most folks assume I play flag or soccer. they don’t even go there, becaus eof course women can’t play _tackle_football… I get it alot. I am 42 and this spring will be my third year. Yea, I started late. I am 5’3 an 145 on a heavy day. The next challenge is getting the men’s safety equipment to fit my curves. 8-D

I think the biggest challenge women face in football is that this world still looks at us to be the fragil type but thats just not true any more. Women face being critized and being told that they just can’t do it. its up to the ones who are tough enough to show ’em who’s boss!

  • The biggest change for girls and football is other girls! So many of the popular, decided that they are better than everyone else, stuck up girls look down on the girls who do play. They have it in their heads of what girls should do and if you are outside that box you’re not a real girl. Sometimes guys make it hard for girls to break in to things like football but I think more often you’ll find other girls who are holding us back. In a world where girls need to ban together we are too busy fighting each other.

I think that parents and coaches are overly afraid that girls will get injured. Boys in football get injured all the time, but they don’t seem overly worried about that!

I played flag football in junior high. One day I missed a catch and the ball hit me in the chest. I didn’t whine about it at all, so some of the boys said I must stuff my bra! (If I stuffed it, I would have stuffed it more than that!)

  • I think that the biggest challange is having all the other team members tell you can’t do it and the only reason they say that is because you are a girl, which is so wrong.

The biggest challange is when guys think girls
can understand or even play football. I’ve watched and
understood football for most of my life (green bay fan)!!
It’s Funny to see the look on a guy’s face when
a girl is talking about football AND knows what she is talking
    about.

I would have to say for me would be how small you are compared to the other team (i am very short). And justwanting to be out on the firld without getting hurt and staying strong.

I am a junior in high school and I have played 2 years on the guys JV football team. I play Cornerback and wide receiver. (This season is my 2nd year!) Theres a lttle joke between my friends that I made the team “Coed”. I was the first girl to play football and make the team in my high school.
There are so many challenges that girls face when playing football. Something I noticed right away was definitely my size. I am 110 pounds and I have a height of 5″4. I’m not scared of the ball or getting hurt because when I get nervous I get so much adrenaline that I sometimes don’t feel anything until after practice or after the game. When anyone trys something new like football, they are worried about what others think, if there is going to be hostility?, will the guys hate me?, will they hit me harder on purpose to make me leave?. I’ts hard to overcome your fears and simply do it. My coach used to say forget the pain it will go away, football is 90% mentality. If one decides to go through they will no mattter what obstacles are thrown at them=P I did it. ( still doing it ) and I plan to until I graduate. Biggest challenge = overcoming your fear and restrictions. i’m representing all girls who wanted to but couldn’t play or was unable to play football.
    you can do it, yeah?
    Good luck everyone
